Simon says write

From the mind that brought us 100 Ways For a Dog to Train Its Human (which has now sold over 190,000 copies), comes another amusing book entitled The Little Book of Alternative Gardening Wisdom.

Simon isn’t a gardener himself and so the book is dedicated to his mother and to ‘all those weeds I pulled up that were in the right place after all.’ The book is not a serious guide to gardening and contains such off-the-wall advice as: ‘Talking to your plants can help them to grow and thrive, so never talk to weeds. Treat them as you would your other half.’ The book is published by Zymurgy Publishing, who Simon came across when he found an advert in an independent publishing catalogue. He has found it rewarding working with a small indie publisher, feeling he was more involved in the production than with larger companies.

by Simon Whaley (£2.99, Zymurgy Publishing), is available now.

The Little Book of Alternative Gardening Wisdom is another success among a long list for Simon. This is his seventh book in total and he also writes articles and short stories. He has won numerous awards and is an active member of the Wrekin Writers and Ludlow Writers writers’ circles.

Next on the agenda is a title he’s working on for Oval Books.

‘If you’d have told me four years ago when I became a full time freelance writer that I would have had eight books published by now, I’d have said you were being very creative!’ says Simon. ‘But that’s the great thing about this writing game. You never know what exciting opportunities lie just around the next corner!’
